The Liko Nourishing Rain

The liko (new growth) is nourished by the rain. The rain is much like the knowledge of our ancestors because for us, the liko, to grow, we need the help of the generations that have come before us. A lot of times we separate science and data from indigenous knowledge when in actuality, they are one in the same. The knowledge of our ancestors rains down on us and supports our growth. It is also our kuleana (responsibility and privilege) as the new generations to protect and care for the rain, the knowledge, and our kuleana to absorb it and grow stronger than before. To take what has been passed down and turn it into a healthier and stronger tree for the generations to come.
